| Bus Hopping A Growing Problem In NYC
(CBS/AP) NEW YORK Now that New York City is getting a handle on turnstile jumpers in the subways, a new problem is escalating above ground. It's called bus hopping, in which people get on city buses through the back door without paying. One bus driver in Brooklyn told the New York Post it's out of control. The people getting on range from elderly women to mothers with carriages and others who are not your typical criminal type. The line to get on the back of the bus sometimes is so large, that people are unable to get off. The rear door is supposed to be for exiting passengers only, to allow people to get on and pay in the front. Transit Spokesman Charles Seaton told the Post it's a problem at busy stops. Bus drivers say they can't leave their seats to collect the fare. And others say it's not their job to confront passengers who are trying to ride for free.

MHS choirs back from event with major wins
Three Marietta High School choirs returned from the Heritage Music Festival in Toronto this month with an impressive collection of awards, including top honors at the competition. We were ready, said Laura Riley, 16, a sophomore and member of the schools Premiere Show Choir. Our group has a ton of energy and did real well. Im excited. I hope we do this well in Ohio next year. At the April 13-15 festival, Encore Concert Choir took first place out of 17 choirs. Premiere Show Choir tied for first place out of eight and Chamber Ensemble Choir tied for second place out of five choirs. Marietta choirs also won the Choral Sweepstakes, the highest award given at the Heritage Festival, for collective high marks. Of 19 schools, the local singers took first place.
Volunteers use chance to do 'Moore' for community
Following registration, members of the Diamond Gems dance team, football players and football Coach Al Golden geared people up for the work ahead. "This was different than 1K [Help] for a Day because we were a lot more interactive, with the football players and such," Galeano said. "We also did a lot of advertisement on this through facebook, e-mail and posters." "This was better planned than 1K," said Lamar Wallace, TSG community service co-chair. "We visited a lot more [recreation] centers this time, compared to before."One thing many students hope for in future events is more peer-to-peer involvement with residents of the community. "One of the best ideas I can think of is to clean the community with the help of the community," said Nir Guy, a senior finance major.
SJP's NYC Camoflauge
Sarah Jessica Parker and her big, but not-big-enough-to-hold-all-those-fancy -glossies bag were out and about in NYC this week. This outfit would be a little neutral for Carrie Bradshaw's (still missing your Sex and the City girls?) taste, but SJP can pull off anything she likes. Hey, maybe she's trying to blend in with her brownstone surroundings. Cause if so, it's kind of working. Source .
