| Manhattan Construction Company Awarded NASA Contract
NASA via BBSNews - 2007-04-12 -- NASA has awarded a contract to Manhattan Construction Company of Fairfax, Va., for the construction of the Exploration Sciences Building at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. The firm fixed price for the basic requirement is approximately $54 million; the price for the options is approximately $1.2 million; with an approximate total price of $56 million if all options are exercised. The basic contract consists of construction of the base building and site utilities with options to add demountable partitions at lab module lines; gypsum wall board partitions at lab module lines; computer room air conditioning units; bitumen roof system; blast walls at the hazardous storage; an uninterruptible power system; and information technology cable trays for offices.

The project, overseen by the New York City School Construction Authority with M.A. Angeliades as the general contractor, is expected to be complete for the start of the 2008-2009 school year. The 140,000-square-foot building, which dates to 1951, was originally built around a central core. Its interior will be completely gutted and reconfigured to accommodate the new schools, which include the Urban Assembly School for Law and Justice and the Urban Assembly School of Math and Science for Young Women.

Crucial Road Test Awaits Baseball
